 Margret,
It is so hard to believe that we adopted Pepsi from you
almost 3 years ago! When we adopted her, we were living in
MS, but we have recently moved to the Tampa area. She is such
a great girl! I just wanted to write and let you know that
she is doing wonderful. She loves her mommy and daddy so much
and we love her even more! Adopting her is definitely the
best thing we have ever done! She gives us so much love!
Everyone loves Pepsi- I don't think she has ever met a
stranger! She is such a sweetheart. She spends most of her
days lounging on the couch, but she loves her walks too! I
know Pepsi was special to you (as they all are!), so I just
wanted to let you know that you definitely found her "forever
home".
Thanks for all the work you do!

| Jag, a great rescue story! |
Thank you so much for the message. Sending a pic of
jag I
made you are welcome to use on website or whatever. He is a
jewel! Oh gosh, we love this dog. He has settled in and
loves his new home, chases a ball
and brings it back, catches a tennis ball, loves squeaky
toys and sleeps at the foot of my sons bed. So he is doing
great.
Have a great day enjoy your picture,

Miska, from rescued to
"Search & Rescue Dog" |
We
first met Miska in Connecticut at a meeting point with
Margaret. It was love at first sight. The ride home to NY
was another matter. Our first bouv, Grizz, hid up in the
front seat giving me dirty looks as sweet little Miska sat
in back and howled and barked for an hour and a half! I
couldn't blame him, I was beginning to wonder what we had
gotten ourselves into!
A couple of weeks after Miska came home I started her
in training for Search and Rescue. I thought it very
appropriate, a rescue dog doing rescue work. The hours are
long and the work is hard but Miska is finally close to
becoming a qualified search dog and should be ready to go
on searches this year. She has been taught to search for
people that are alive and lost, for people that have
passed away, for articles that the lost people may have
dropped, for human scent under water in case she needs to
find a person that had drowned, she has been hung up in
the air in a sling, and has been exposed to helicopters,
she's been in a boat, and she's been taught to find
someone that has climbed up in a tree. It seems no matter
what ridiculous thing I ask her to do she is willing.
She's my girl, my buddy, my partner.
Thank you Margaret!

Dear Bouvier & Friends,
All is well, very well in fact. He is a wonderful dog. As
you figured, he attached very quickly to my daughter. She
is definitely going to have to learn about being the "Alpha"
in the relationship. It's more of training her than Bear!!
|
|
Hope you don't mind the name switch. It just seemed that
'Devon' wasn't a manly enough name for such a fine
specimen!! Bear just seemed to fit him more. He really
took to the new name surprisingly quick. We were just going
to give it a try for a bit and if not his cup of tea, we'd
go back to Devon;
knowing he could give some testosterone to the name if he
had to! But, all worked out well.
He really has good manners when you expect it from him.
And..........what a woof!!!!! (and growl). He uses it when
the door opens and he doesn't know...what am I telling you
this for. You're the one who told me!!
Thank you, thank you again for this most wonderful gift.
Also, he's not home usually more than 5 to 6 hours with all
our schedules intertwining as they do. My sister works with
foster kids and is in and out of the house quite a bit
during the day, as she doesn't have to be tied to an
office. That works out real well with Bear.
Oh yeah, not to worry about the cats. They're in and
outdoor cats and seem to keep their distance. He has become
quite friendly with my cat, Simon, who is a very, very
relaxed animal. He has a way about him, in that all other
animals that he's ever lived with never question who is the
alpha (so to speak) in the house; and he does it all with
basically no more than just an air about him saying that it
must be obvious to any new creature that walks through the
door, that he has nothing to prove to anyone!! He's so
relaxed that Bear can smell him and check him out, with
Simon doing nothing
more than looking at him with an expression of "haaa, when
will this mere mortal be done with adoring me?!!?!? So far,
so good. However, we are keeping an eye on him. And to set
you at ease, we were taking Bear with full knowledge of his
penchant for small animals and the risk that entails.
Well, gotta get to bed. My daughter needs a ride to school
early in the a.m. and Ineed my beauty sleep.
Thank you and may God bless you and yours. He definitely
has mine!!!

Dear Friends,
Sunday, August 18th, was a sad and happy day
for Margret, Amanda left with her new family. No, Amanda
was not a Bouvier, but she stole Margret's heart. Who could
blame Margret for getting so attached? With all the care
and time she put into Amanda, a bond was forged that will be
hard to break. |
|
On Margret's birthday, she received her first
and only application for Amanda. I went to do a home check
and was immediately impressed at the good heart this family
had. It takes a special type of person to adopt a dog who
has/or had special needs....this family had the room in
their heart and home for Amanda.
Her new family drove 3 hours to pick her
up, and it only took 5 minutes for a new bond to be forged
with the little boy and his new dog, at first he was so
scared (he is only seven). Apparently Amanda decided the
little boy was ok and began to lick his hand. All the way
home he massaged her. |
|
When they got home, they called. They said
their son explained to his parents how to handle Amanda.
Amanda will be his dog and the family is happy! Amanda now
has her own family to love, one kid that she can adore and a
life that every dog (not only bouviers) deserves!
Margret did not know it would be so hard
to let her go and is still grieving even though she knows
she will now have a better life and a lot of attention. "She
was and is one special dog for me!" said Margret, tearfully! |
|
Dear Friends,
About a month ago, Margret received a call
from someone who had found a dog but didn't want to call
Animal Control because he was convinced the dog would be put
down.
Jack asked for help and advice as to what he
could do, and when Margret asked him to foster "Friendly",
he gladly opened his home to him. Margret didn't have space
at the time.
Jack kept "Friendly" in his home for 2 weeks
until Margret had room for her. Here is Jack bringing her to
Margret's so she could find a new home for her.
Margret was at a home show just a little bit
ago, and a vendor from Switzerland fell in love with her and
is taking her home with him to Switzerland!
Our Rescues go around the world! |
A great ending for the
West Palm Beach Breeder Story!
|
|
Animal Control closed down a back yard
breeder in Miami and took out the mother and 8 pups. They
finally called Margret and told her about it, but when she
got there, she was informed that the mom and 5 of the pups
had died.
Margret took the remaining pups to her vet
where they were cared for and fed fluids. The next 2 days
and nites, Margret was up continually (or so it seemed)
until Lauri called and said her Aussie Mom had just
delivered....please bring the pups over!
Aussie Mom took them under her wing and fed
them for 3 weeks until they got too big.
Now they are home with Margret, eating on
their own and making a mess. Isn't it wonderful at least
some of them lived and will get good homes? |
